Christian Parallels in 1984

I thought it was interesting, in this last chapter of the book, how Winston called what he went through “his life, his death, and his resurrection.” I don’t really know much about the bible or about Christianity in any kind of depth, but I did recognize the word “resurrection” as something religious in nature. However, I had already begun to think of the book somewhat through a lens of Christianity:

Adam and Eve are Winston and Julia as in Winston seems to be the first man to think outside of the confines of the Party, and Julia the first woman (however her beliefs are slightly different than Winston’s). I might even go as far as to say her anti-Party beliefs were the ones to get them caught (her careless anti-Party beliefs could be argued to mirror Eve’s carelessness in eating the forbidden fruit). You might have already guessed where my other analogy was going, but of course I would be remiss not to liken Big Brother to God in this book, and in the same way, Emmanuel Goldstein is the Devil.

Then again, I’m not positive about how specifically accurate these comparisons could be, so what do you think? Is it more extensive than I’m realizing, or am I truly just speculating?
